Costume designer and performer. Currently work as a researcher at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, 2018, with the project: Talk to me: feminine conversations between body, costume and movement.

 

As a performer, created and is in constant development the collaborative performance project “Talk to me”, currently on it’s 6th collaboration, investigating the layers of silencing of women nowadays over the globe. Has participated in 2017 on the art residency at Casa Duna, Atafona-Brazil, creating the performance “Outros Rastros” dialoguing with the deteriorating landscape of the city.

After finishing the studies in BA in “Arts:  Costume Design and History” by Senai Cetiqt College (2009-2012), and the BA in Dance from the University Angel Vianna (2003- 2006), has realized the lack of material and professionals focused on costume for movement, that lead to deepen her personal investigation between costume and movement making in the MA in Visual Arts- Theatre Costume at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp. The final project, the performance "Talk to me" arises as an urge for communication overlapping designer and performer in a dialogue with and from the relation of body and material. The exhibition was nominated for the Hugo Roelandt prize 2016.

The interest in the creative process of costume making started at the BA final project, called: “The art of creating costumes: A look at the method of Ney Madeira”, a project of study and experimentation of the creative process.  In 2013 published together with Ney Madeira the article “Designing Theatre Costume between theory and practice” in the Redige Magazine.

In her training, took courses of “Costume design for theatre and screen” and “Experimental fashion drawing”, both at Central Saint Martins (London); Worked with costume designers such as Ellen Milet, Ana Avelar and Marie Salles. In the field of dance, has taken classes with Rami Levi, Meg Stuart, Marc Vanrunxt, Cristina Moura, Carles Sales, Ana Vitória,  among others. Has worked as a professional dancer with Alexandre bado, Marcio Cunha and Ana Andréa and as a dancer and artistic collaborator in the company Experimenta Núcleo de Dança/ Grupo Tápias II from 2002 till 2009 under the direction of Flávia Tápias.

As an assistant costume designer , has worked for  the atelier “Espetacular Produções e Artes”( Ney Madeira, Dani Vidal and Pati Faedo) for 4 years, having worked on over 30 productions in the field of Theatre, Dance and Carnival. On 2012 became an Assistant Costume Designer at the TV channel Rede Globo, where she stayed until 2015, having done the soap operas “Boogie Oggie” and “Malhação” ; the miniseries “Verdades Secretas”, “O caçador” and “Dentista Mascarado"; and the reality show “The Voice Brasil”.

Since 2010, works as a freelance costume designer. Some of her works include the dance film “Dança.Mov”; the contemporary circus performance “Veracidade; and contemporary dance pieces "homo urbanus" from Ricardo Ambrózio, “Frida-me” from Marcio Cunha Contemporary Dance Company; “Fonte” and “Res” from Staccato Dance Company / Paulo Caldas; "Bicha de sete cabeças" “I don't play with diamonds" from Alexandre Bado, among others. Also created costumes for concert, theatre, advertising, web series and short films.
